Dead Lawn Patches in Common Area

There are many sections of the common area grass and shrubs that are being killed by dog urine, primarily on the northside hill of the condos. As the common area belongs to the Association, it is a violation for owner’s dogs to kill the grass or damage plants.

There are some solutions out there for owners of dogs that may help:

  • The local Petco on Wilbur Avenue in Coeur d’Alene sells tablets or treats that can be fed to dogs which lowers the ph levels thereby neutralizing the acidity of their urine.  These products range in price from $22.00 - $26.00.
  • You may also contact your veterinarian if they know of any other options.
  • Another simple and helpful solution (at no cost to the pet owner) is to bring a pitcher of water with you to pour on the dog urine which will immediately neutralize the damaging effect on the lawn.

Please note that if the landscapers are forced to replace dead grass or plants killed by dog urine, the cost for said repair will be incurred to the owner of the dog.

The Association would like to thank all residents in advance for their cooperation in this matter.  Let’s continue to make The Condos at Mill River a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing community to reside in.
